[TaylorJ] Probations​Description​This addon will allow you to place users on a read only leave from your site, as if they were banned but still have the ability to read posts and visit the site.

Sometimes a full on ban isn't what is needed and a user just needs to be quiet for a few hours/days. Idea taken from SomethingAwful.
